The name ONDO comes from the Esperanto word for “wave,” tracing back through all the Latin languages to the root unda. In Japanese, ONDO (音頭) combines on (sound) and do (to lead or guide). Traditionally, it refers to rhythmic folk songs that set the pace for group dances and rituals—sound as a unifying pulse, a call to collective movement. This interpretation echoes our intention: the use of sound and presence to guide inner and collective transformation.
The wave is is both a metaphor and a method: it represents not just movement and transformation, but also pointing quite literally, to resonance—a foundation of sound, nature, and human experience.
The invitation in any type of session is to follow the subtle shifts—vibrational, energetic, emotional, or somatic—while moving at the pace of the body's own wisdom.

Sound Waves / Brain Waves
The use of sound as a meditative and healing/therapeutic tool is nothing new, though we are fortunate to be living in an age when modern science is finally advancing on the innate knowledge to which various cultures have been instinctually responding for hundreds of years. In 2020, Hong Kong Arts Centre's Cultural Masseur series asked ONDO to co-produce these videos to help explain some of the methods and philosophy behind this work.
After learning more about brainwave entrainment and binaural beats in this short video, you can listen to a series of recordings, which are created specifically with the intention to help shift the listener’s brainwave states towards Alpha, Theta, and Delta.
Sound & The Bodymind
Sound waves can have a profound effect on physical matter, which can be clearly demonstrated in cymatic patterns created through the vibration of specific frequencies.
In this second video (produced in 2020) with Hong Kong Arts Centre, we take a deeper look into wave science and therapeutic traditions, while discussing the intersection of healing, art, music and science.
